Two years ago, when I was young and naive, I thought it was a grand idea to add another dog to our crazy clan. At the time, I didn’t realize adding a dog to a household with a Jack Russell Terrier would be so difficult.
Let me give you a little perceptive on my little Jack Russell/ Rat Terrier mix, Lucy. Lucy is a firecracker; A terrier down to her bones. She is loving, cuddly, feisty, ferocious, high strung little monster. She loves playing and running around as much as she love snuggling under the blankets with Ryan and I. If you want to watch a terrific little wrap up on Jack Russell Terriers watch the Dogs 101 on them! They are a crazy dog!
So, in walks the great idea of adopting another dog. We knew we wanted a large breed rescue dog. We started looking at the pups through Coco’s Heart Dog Rescue. That is when we found George (at the time his name was Harrison). He was a giant 3 month old Mastiff/Lab mix. We knew he fit the bill for our family. Two years later, George is loved by all of us! He is a gentle soul, a finicky eater and loves tennis balls.
However, on occasion George and Lucy do get into disagreements (to put it lightly). George easily has 60 lbs on Lucy, so when they do get into it, it is incredibly scary and almost impossible for one person to break up the fight. Ryan and I knew we had to do something. After researching many different types of schools and trainers for George, we decided to go through Canine Coach for training. We or should I say George is now in the last week of “school”. T-minus three days till graduation!
