Cocktails: The Lemon Drop Martini

While out to dinner with family, my cousin, Jenny ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. I normally stick to a Dirty Martini or a Cosmopolitan, but her order definitely perked my interest.
The next weekend, I gave the Lemon Drop a try and fell in love. Scroll down to find the perfect Lemon Drop recipe.

First, you will need to make your simple syrup. You can always purchase this premade, but I always make mine at home.

Place 1.5 ounces warm water and 3 sugar cubes in the cocktail shaker. Swirl it around until all of the cubes have dissolved. This makes your simple syrup. Then place half of a lemon in a citrus squeezer and squeeze as much juice as possible and set a side the peel. Repeat for the other half. Measure out about 3 ounces (normally this is one whole lemon).

Add the lemon juice to the shaker, along with 3.75 ounces of vodka. Throw some ice in, place the top on and shake!  Take that smooshed half lemon you set aside and wipe the remaining juice around the rim of a martini glass. Gentle roll in fine white sugar.

After shaking, pour into the martini glass and enjoy.
My final advice: always, I repeat, always sugar the rim.
