One of my favorite items to make are bread twists, or as some would call cheese straws. These bread twists can accompany just about anything; cheese plate, soup, beer, wine, anything! The best part, they literally have two ingredients, but you can easily experiment with different cheeses, spices and herbs. I promise these little buggers will impress in any crowd!
BREAD TWISTS
INGRIDENTS
Puff Pastry, thawed
3/4 cup of grated cheeses (I used cheddar and parmesan)
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Roll out one sheet of the puff pastry to about a 8×8 square. Top with half the cheese and fold the pastry in half. Top with remaining cheese and continue to roll it out until it reaches a 10×10 square. As you are rolling it out, this should press the cheese into pastry.
Cut the pastry into 1-inch wide strips and transfer to a baking sheet. Before setting it on the baking sheet gently twist the ends in opposite directions to give the pastry a spiral.
Bake for 15-25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
