Abstract art is popping up all over the design world. It doesn’t matter the decor style; traditional, Georgian, farmhouse, transition. This Jackson Pollack inspire pieces are just about everywhere. I first became obsessed with it when I saw it in Kate Spade’s New York apartment and in Gen Sohr’s Nashville home.
The good news is you can easily get your hands on this bold pieces of artwork, as prices are anywhere from $30 – more than I want to acknowledge. I highlighted some of those options below.
I, however, thought this would be a great little DIY project for Ryan and I. We already had plenty of black paint in the basement, so all we need were two frames and some paper.
The most difficult part of this project is going out and purchasing everything you need. I promise.
You will need:
2 IKEA’s Ribba frames (in the largest size – 24 x 35.75)
How to Make Abstract Art:
- Water down the acrylic paint in a container that will be easy to pour out of. This makes it easier to create the fluidity of the work. Plus, it gives the dried paint a really neat texture. We did about 5 parts paint, 1 part water.
- Lay down 1 of the poster boards and simply pour the paint on the poster in 1 smooth sweeping motion.
