Hello 2020 –
What a year this will be in the E household. Not only do we have plenty of hefty house projects on the docket, but in May we are also bringing a little baby into the mix. Since the babe is due in May, we have plenty to get done before then.
Projects to Complete:
- Basement | We started the basement renovation in the fall of 2014 and will be wrapping it up by Easter 2020. The first couple years were slow on purpose. As we chipped away at everything that needed to get done, we continued to save money for the actual overhaul. Since 2014, we gutted the basement, which included removing asbestos tile, installing an egress window, framing out the walls of a bedroom, bathroom, and walk in closet, and installing the plumbing for the bathroom. Stay tuned for an overall look at how far the basement has come since we moved into the house and all of the beautiful inspiration photos I have been pulling.
- The Nursery (duh) | Once the basement is completed, or almost completed, we can start emptying out the guest bedroom and start filling it up with nursery items! I know babies don’t necessarily need the majority of the furniture in a nursery for a month or two, but can you blame me for wanting a place to call her own? Expect more nursery talk in April!
- Finally, and finger cross we can get it done, is our backyard space. For living in the city, I think our backyard is fairly nice size and we have a deck to boot. This project was originally on the list last year (see that here), but the prep work (i.e, getting our giant ash tree cut down and then removing giant roots the tree company disregarded) took a larger chuck out of our summer than I would like to admit. The babe is coming in late spring, so this probably won’t start until mid summer. The overall goal is to replank the deck, create some permanent sun coverage and new outdoor furniture.
