What we learned about parenting in the first three months with baby Odin

What we learned in the first three months with baby Odin

Like many new parents, I am baffled I already have a 3 month old. The days are slow, the weeks fast, and the month are super speed. I am constantly looking at the photos where she was just weeks old and only 6-something pounds. Ryan and I often say, it looks like she didn’t even fit into her skin.

Now, at 3 months and a few days, she is over 10 lbs, loves tummy time, smiling and tracking mom and dad with her eye. Three little months have changed so much in our household, so I thought it would be fun to chat through some of the crazy ideas Ryan and I had about parenthood pre-baby and now post baby.

5 Things We “Learned”

  1. For me, labor/delivery was more emotionally tolling than painful. I had to have an emergency induction due to high blood pressure. What does this mean? It means there were 3 “options” of medications to induce labor. What does this mean? It means, these 3 drugs were used to get my cervix to 3cm dilated to THEN start the Pitocin. This process took almost 45 hours. 45 HOURS.
  2. We are covered in sip up…ALL OF THE TIME. It doesn’t help that Odin has acid reflux, but the amount babies (in general) sip up came to a complete surprise to me. I now have a bath towel (yes, a bath towel) that stays in my living room and at my bedside, because a simple burb cloth doesn’t do it!!
  3. Baby head butts hurt! We find ourselves feeling for chipped teeth after snuggling up with her.
  4. Little baby girl clothes are in fact very fun to shop for.
  5. Finally, and related to the above; there is a limit to how many onesies a child needs. I have onesies up to my ears! I don’t own 45 t-shirts, why would Olli need 45 onesies.
