I started First of Mae back in 2015. I was dying for a creative outlet for my love of clothes. In the four years since, the majority of the time, it has served as just that. I mainly focused on what I was wearing or currently loving. I rarely branched out. Since and I have learned a lot about myself, my taste and the blogging world.
I learned (and quite quickly I may add) is fashion blogging is incredibly expensive and time consuming. Often, I was beating myself up for not posting enough, not having the right vision, the perfect photos, or the newest, hottest piece that was out on the market. I was taking blogging serious enough to blame myself for my shortcomings, but not to actually view it as a responsibility or career. In addition to that, my life and interests were changing. Fashion wasn’t as important to me as it was before and home decor and hosting was taking the front seat of my interests. If I wanted to feel and be successful in blogging, I needed to focus on what I was interested in and to required myself to invest time and money into it.
I recently completed an 8-part course on everything blogging. It has been so informative and motivational. I am learning about how to better brand myself, my views, and my overall content. The course was definitely the kick in the butt I needed to jumpstart the blog (again).
Rebranding
This leads me to the rebranding. First of Mae is now, Saint James & Co. It is like music to my ears. Incredibly sophisticated, classic, and exactly the new start I needed. Saint James & Co. will have the same overall feels as FIrst of Mae with slight tweaks. The blog will have a heavier focus on lifestyle: home decor, hosting how-tos, with a little bit of fashion mixed in. I really want to give line of sight to my actual life and likes, instead of just what I am wearing.
It has been and will continue to be a long road to completely rebrand. I am still working on new logo and marketing myself on social media platforms, but I am super excited to see all my hard work pay off.
